Welcome to the future home of the IAS, the Internet Adaptive Systems Research Group at
the University of New Brunswick.
Both the name and the page are subject to change, and soon...
The IAS is currently looking into the idea of adaptive web sites, which is the idea that
a web site could (should?) adapt and change in an automated way to meet its users' needs.
Issues in this research include:
- When or if such adaptation should be done?
- What evidence should be used to form decisions of adaptation, and how can it be collected?
- What sort of adaptations should be done?
- How should users be modelled within such a system?
- How should pages and data be modelled within such a system?
- What sort of design methodologies should be employed to build an adaptive web site? Do new ones need to be
invented?
- How do you measure the effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) of a web site, and of a change to a web site?
- How do you automate the process?
These and other questions occupy our thoughts...
